Filippo was born in Lima, Peru in 1946. He studied at the renowned Escuela de Bellas Artes de Lima where he graduated with the highest honors. Filippo moved to North America in 1970 where he studied Painting and Drawing at the School of the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit, Michigan under the tutelage of Maestro Sam Pucci. Filippo has had numerous exhibitions in the most prestigious galleries around the world.
