Randall Browning

Born in Dallas, Texas in 1955, Randall Browning began his lifelong career as an artist at a very young age. Browning received early art training from his father, an illustrator and by the time he was thirteen, Browning was selling his artwork. Determined to turn his passion into a profession, he pursued formal art training at the Art Students League in New York City, followed by the Salmagundi Club in NYC.

Browning spend nearly thirty years primarily painting portraits and his porfolio from these years is a virtual “who’s-who” of scientists, political figures, corporate execuatives, and society members. However, he felt unfulfilled by these accomplishments and in 1989 he began traveling and studying ancient philosophy and meditation. Intrigued and inspired by ancient rituals of Mexico and by Zen philosophy, he began developing a new style of painting. His more recent works may, at first glance, appear to be still life paintings, but they are truly meditative art. Browning attempts to paint not just the objects, but their essence, trying to answer the “question of how an inanimate object can affect people emotionally.” These emotions and philosophical inquiries are deeply embedded in his vividly colored creations.

Browning has exhibited his paintings and prints across the United States and in Mexico; he always been appreciated for his artistic talents and training and his work can be found in countless private, public, and corporate collections around the world. Just a few of his great collectors include Leonard Katzman, creator of the television show “Dallas”; Robert Folsom, the Mayor of the City of Dallas; the Catholic Archdioceses in Little Rock, Arkansas; and the library at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
