Charles Apt
Charles Apt has exhibited his work for over 20 years in national and international shows and museums and his works are included in public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. Apt is a native of New York City and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute. Early in his artistic career he was influenced by his grandfather, Sam Lumiere a world renowned portrait photographer and his mother, Tami Apt, a jewelry designer. After working for a brief time as an illustrator, Apt went on a two year painting sojourn in Europe. Shortly after returning to New York he held his first gallery showing. This showing brought about wider recognition for Apt and opened new doors for him. He was asked to paint a thoroughbred series to be exhibited at the Aqueduct Race Track. Subsequently he had a one-man show featuring his paintings and drawings at the Aqueduct Gallery. While maintaining his New York City studio, he has recently established a studio in Southern California where he now resides and works.
