Born in 1971 in Montana, Thomas McCoy has always felt art to be a large part of his life. Growing up in state so full of natural beauty and expansive countryside, McCoy found release in outdoor activities such as fly fishing and camping before realizing that this commune with nature and the attention to detail it requires fit remarkably well with his passion for art. Earning a BFA at the University of Colorado, McCoy studied model building and design as well as framing in addition to the painting with which he began.

Using mixed media and his knowledge of craftsmanship, sculpture, and, as ever, his love of painting, McCoy’s art, much of which is collage, is full of strong colors and shapes, creating a sense of the vast natural landscapes among which he was raised. McCoy now lives in Atlanta, Georgia and his work is collected and exhibited throughout the United States.
