Melanie Max was born in Cornwall, England, and brought up in Devon. She studied fine art and sculpture in London at the Chelsea College of Art & Design, graduating with her BA in 1991. She now focuses on painting and trying to capture the sense of life beyond our observation but within our knowledge. Her latest paintings deal with the contrast between shadow and light and are meditations on the natural world in color and form.
