Martin Katon

Though Martin Katon has been painting professionally for over 40 years, art is by no means his sole passion. Katon has been a lumberjack, a Thai kick boxer, a painting instructor, a cave explorer and a professional drummer. With so many rich experiences under his belt - as well as a B.A. in Fine Arts - it comes as no surprise that Katon's work continually amazes collectors. Over the years, Katon's work has been featured in many galleries and has earned several first place honors. Though his art and time are regularly in high demand, Katon still makes time to share his craft with others by teaching at-risk youth and children with learning disabilities.

Unquestionably, the biggest influences on Katon's work are his love for animals and Native American culture. When speaking about his craft, Katon says, "In my paintings, my own heritage comes together. I come from Scottish craftsmen, English writers, and traders who married Native Americans. Craftsmanship is important in my work and there are stories in my paintings. The animals and people are connected to Mother Earth and Father Sky." This devotion to animals is not only present in his work, but in his life as well; Katon is constantly rescuing both domestic and wild animals.
