Jose Correa

Jose Correa was born and raised in a small village in Durango, Mexico. As a youth he often spent the days drawing pictures in the sand to pass the time. In school he entered and won an art competition, which compelled him to become an artist. At the age of 16, Correa left home to attend La Academia Novo to study art. Jose Correa eventually migrated to the United States where he had the opportunity to study under artist Glen Allen Ward for three years. Correa’s inspiration affinity towards art derives from an ancestor, Mexican Master Juan Correa, who was commissioned to paint several notable religious art pieces for the main cathedral in Mexico City. “Art is a tool of emotions that opens the door to immortality.” Says Correa.
