Born and raised in Los Angeles, JoAnne Nichols developed a passion for art from an early age. During her impressionable high school years, Nichols found artistic inspiration in the works of Caravaggio, Matisse, and William Morris, influences that are still apparent in her early work. After graduating high school, Nichols traveled and settled in Chicago for a brief period. Eventually, Nichols got married and moved to Arizona, where she found the natural beauty of the desert to be a constant font of inspirations. Soon after, Nichols received her Bachelors from Arizona State University. Now, when speaking of her art, Nichols says, “I love to transform an ordinary object into a new visual experience that can delight the eye and refresh the spirit. I want my art to mentally transport people out of a stressful environment to one which envelopes them in peace and beauty - one which renews and generates the mind and body.”
