Cliff Kearns

Although Cliff Kearns began his career as a traditional artist, he has developed a unique and exciting style that breaks conventions while earning the attention of art enthusiasts all around the world. Kearns’ early work included rural landscapes, Rockwellian portraits, and formal oil portraits; much of his work was commissioned by famed public figures and international companies, including General Motors, International Harvester, the Roman Catholic Diocese of London, Ontario in Canada, and a major clay mural for the City of Chatham’s centenary celebration.

After years of working as a commissioned artist, Kearns has begun to explore more diverse artistic channels, often examining things from new perspectives and presenting them to the viewer in unique and striking ways. His mixed media paintings have attracted the attention of fine art critics and casual art viewers alike. Beginning with unconventional media, he creates a textured base for his oil paint; ripped plywood, broken pieces of mirrors and Plexiglass, and other 3D material are the underlying elements of his paintings. The mixture of textures and materials create a sense of movement in his work.

Kearns’ work has attracted international attention and has been displayed in prestigious solo and group exhibitions across Canada. His paintings hang in private and corporate collections and although he primarily focuses on his explorative, expressive artwork, he is still highly coveted as a portrait artist.
