Zhuang Da-Shan

Zhuang Da-Shan was born in northern China during the Chinese Year of the Monkey (1956). At 39, Zhuang has achieved international recognition for his individualistic approach to color combined with the grace and subtly of Yunnan style painting. Not only do his works display a sense of simplistic elegance, but Zhuang is also able to capture the loveliness and temperance of traditional Chinese lore. Yet, even in it’s stylistic moderation, there is a sense of intoxication in the richness and beauty of his images as seen, for example, in the strength and elegance of galloping zebras amidst the vertigo of native Chinese foliage. Zhuang enjoys the esteemed position of Professor of Art at the University of Jilin, and has authored many books on painting that are currently distributed throughout China. His works have been sold from Japan to Europe and are now being introduced to the American public.
