Vincent Silvano

Vincent Silvano was born and raised in Troy, NY, and began painting at the early age of eight years old. He studied at the Art Students League in NYC from 1995-1996, before moving to the West Coast in 2000, where he finished his studies at the Cal Art Institute in Los Angeles.

His style leans toward a refined, classical technique in which he masterfully employs the use of “Chiaroscuro”; an Italian term describing contrast between light and dark, used to achieve a sense of three-dimensionality, especially in regards to the human figure.

Silvano’s paintings are heavily textured and modeled after the old masters. Each painting begins with a drawing in pastel pencils, and is slowly built up. The result is luminous and captivating, fusing modern impressionism and classical technique.

In the past decade Silvano has received tremendous recognition for his life size murals where he displays his aesthetic vision and affection for figurative painting.
