Victor Ostrovsky

Born in 1949 in Canada, Victor Ostrovsky moved to Israel at the age of five. His inclination for the arts was apparent from a very early age. The well known Israeli painter, Giladi, lived on the same street and would often set up his easel outdoors to paint. Victor would watch, spellbound, on his way to and from school as Giladi created wonderful images on the blank canvas. Eventually, the artist presented Victor with his own box of oil paints and took the time to guide him into a world where expressions come through images and color, handing the child a gift that would soon become a passion.

At eighteen, Victor entered the military and eventually became the youngest officer in the Israeli armed forces (Navy). Victor rose to rank of a lieutenant commander in the Israeli Navy and served as head of the weapon testing program. It's not surprising then, that when Victor was invited to train for the Mossad, (Israel's elite foreign intelligence service) he leapt at the opportunity to serve his country in such an extraordinary way. But through the years of his training and his experiences on subsequent missions, Victor began to see that instead of defending the interests of the state, certain elements within the Mossad were in fact in danger of destroying it.

After five years of trying to inform the powers that be with little success, he wrote the expose, "By Way of Deception," that shook the foundations of the agency and is said to have brought about change. He has since written three more books since. Today, Victor's insight and knowledge of the intelligence community facilitates his writing of fictional novels and screenplays, and serves as a basis for his enigmatic and cryptic paintings. His canvases offer tantalizing images, evoking a mystical and otherworldly reaction from viewers. Hats, gloves, scarves and umbrellas hide the identities of his inscrutable figures, provoking and teasing our imaginations with visual portrayals of adventure and intrigue.

Victor Ostrovsky is a best selling author, and screenplay writer, of four books which were a worldwide phenomenon. His expertise on Judaism, Islam and security issues, made him a sought after speaker. Victor has appeared on Larry King Live, The ABC, NBC, and CBS Nightly News, Prime Time Live, and dozens of other media venues worldwide.
