Roula Ayoub
Born in Monrovia, Liberia in West Africa, Roula Ayoub was passionate about the arts and when she was still young she began to immerse herself in the world of art. Beginning her formal art education at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, she earned her BS in Interior Design with a minor in Art at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1985. Ayoub later took numerous other art courses, including jewelry design and enameling and she soon earned her MS in Interior Design and Fine Art from Florida State University in Tallahassee in 1988.
Described as luminescent and spiritual, Ayoub’s paintings are expressive and full of light. With skill and natural talent, she combines cool and warm color schemes to create new palettes and, in some ways, a new world. As she explains it, “My art is somewhere beyond our world – a self-created place and a mixture of different cultures creatively painted on canvas. It is a serene place where one would aspire to be.”
With color and form as the central focus, Ayoub creates breathtaking abstract landscapes that are collected around the world. She has exhibited her work in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and all across the United States, from Los Angeles to Nebraska to Miami to New York City and many places in between. Her paintings can be found in countless collection in the US and abroad, including eminent museums and displays such as the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman, Jordan; Beirut International Airport in Lebanon; the Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum in Turkey, and the Le Meridien Hotel, Dubai, UAE. Ayoub continues to create expressive, beautiful, and spiritual paintings that she exhibits in solo and group exhibitions around the world.
