Robert Hurst

Known as one of the foremost sports artists in the country, Robert Hurst continues to attract national attention and increasing interest for his music- and western-inspired artwork. Hurst is primarily a self-taught acrylic painter, although studied medical illustration at Stephen F. Austin University and North Harris County College in Texas (1978-1982) and had a brief stint studying painting at The Art Institute of Houston (1983). The style he has developed over the years is one of dynamism and movement with lively brushstrokes and vibrant hues, which is perfectly suited to his focus on sports and music.

Hurst’s talent and dedication is well-recognized; numerous private and corporate collections feature his work, including the Dallas Cowboys, the University of Texas, the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore, and the College Baseball Foundation. The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo (familiarly known as Rodeo Austin) has commission Hurst to create exciting western art for the past five years and often use his work in their media campaigns. In addition, he is the official artist to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, and has been seen 1997. In addition to these honors, Hurst’s work has been published in numerous national and local publications such as Country Lifestyle Magazine, Art Trends Magazine, and Sports Collectors’ Digest. Hurst continues to create lively, appealing work that is collected across the nation and displayed in respected galleries from Texas to Michigan to New York.
