Batia Magal’s work has taken various paths constantly evolving along the way. Her works encapsulate a very personal and feminine statement. Magal's simple calligraphic drawing of the female form or a flower-filled vase is the foundation of her personal style that she puts into her work. To these the brilliant washes of lively colors act as a counterpoint, with the deeper and warmer hues evoking the luminosity of medieval stained-glass windows. Recently, Magal has started to use fabric textures and prints which seem to be inconsistant with the nature of her work, creating collages where she infuses elements of drawing, print and fabric-texture to form balance that focuses on the works' structural composition. Batia Magal was born in Israel in 1953, and at a very young age showed a remarkable talent for drawing and had a thriving passion for art. Magal attended the ‘Avni Art Institute’, where she was influenced by such well-known artists as Streichman and Wexler.
