Natasha Barnes was raised in South Africa. As a child she began experimenting with painting. Aside from a few art lessons, she did not receive any formal training in art.

Barnes originally studied at Cordon Bleu, and even went on to open her own cooking school. However, her affinity towards painting caused her to return to the paintbrush. "Art is what I do. Every painting is a mood, a reflection of what is happening in my mind. Some days are quiet - some days are abstract,” says Barnes.
