Mark Satchwill

Immediately after completing rudimentary schooling, Mark Satchwill began to pursue his passion as a painter. When he finished his A-levels, he took a year-long course Foundation Course at Stevenage College in Hertfordshire before earning his degree in graphic design and illustration at the University of Leeds. Since his graduation, Satchwill has displayed his art in numerous group and solo exhibitions, most notably his one-man shows at Adonis Art in London and the Flavel Centre in Dartmouth.

Part of the great appeal in Satchwill’s art is its varied and exploratory nature. While he primarily paints using watercolors, he also uses gouache paints. In either medium, his paintings depict any possible subject matter; Satchwill paints portraits, floral pieces, and landscapes with equal skill. His inspiration also comes from various influences, including books, films, music, history, and, of course, his personal experiences. In addition to his own paintings and the work he creates on commission, Satchwill recently began painting Art Cards, Editions, and Originals (ACEOs), which are miniature paintings. “Not only are [these] great fun to do, but also challenging and rewarding.” This combination of enjoyment and challenge is the underlying attitude of Satchwill’s creative; the passion and dedication he possesses are apparent in every one of his paintings.
