This dynamic art duo met and soon began photographing together as a hobby, back in 1979. Five years later they were married, and were working on making their hobby a full-time career, buoyed by the success their images - based on the many photos snapped along travels throughout the United States - were having at art shows and exhibits. The Scanlans' trip to Ireland, where both have familial roots, yielded a treasure trove of images and cemented their reputation as unique artists whose work is avidly collected and admired worldwide. Indeed, the Iowa-based Scanlan galleries are aptly named "Windows to the World" as they specialize in transforming a myriad of intriguing and breathtaking scenes from all over the globe into wonderfully collectible works of art.
