Ilyong Cha

A world traveler, Ilyong Cha' creates his originals on site. His interpretation casts the mood of "a moment in time" when life was peaceful and serene. Over one hundred portraits of famous people are to his credit, including the official portrait of Sir Winston Churchill (displayed in Haberdasher's Hall England,) and that of the Prime Minister of Thailand, to name just two.

Born in 1946, Cha' grew up to attend the National Art Institute in Seoul Korea. Upon graduating with honors in 1967, he pursued a career in fine portrait and landscape art. His works were first exhibited in the United States in 1968. Private collectors were enchanted with the softness and vibrancy of his palette. Due to his great success and growing demand for his paintings, Cha' moved to the United States in 1978. To own a Cha' is to experience his journey. Cha' says, "In my work, I strive to let my inner soul speak on the canvas, revealing beauty, warmth and gentleness, yet strength and power too."
