One of Britain’s most popular and successful artists, David Shepherd’s favorite subjects to paint are wildlife and steam engines, though he is also well-versed at creating images of airplanes, landscapes, and portraits. Shepherd is also well known for being a tireless campaigner for wildlife conservation and the preservation of steam locomotives. In 1984, he established The David Shepherd Conservation Foundation, which helps with wildlife conservation both in his native England and abroad. For his work, Shepherd has been awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire for conservation efforts and is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Arts.
