Daniel Van Zyle grew with nature as his greatest companion, so it comes as no surprise that the outdoors is his favorite subject to paint. Van Zyle’s love of nature shines through his paintings: “Every time I start new work, I simply set out to retell some field experience or observation, and each time I get into the art I find that it is in working my way through the complex harmony of subject to landscape to light that I discover the painting and rediscover the wild places I so love.” His attention to detail and personal connection with his work has not gone unnoticed; his work is exhibited frequently throughout the United States and Canada and is collected internationally. When he is not in his studio, Van Zyle lives the life of an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and walking in the wilderness with his dog, Ikaika.
