Born and raised on the east coast of Australia, Colleen Brown has been drawing since a young age. “I used to get into trouble at school,” she recalls, “for drawing in the margins of my books when I should have been concentrating on math or something similar.” Following these natural instincts, Brown studied design at Newcastle University before moving to the United States in 1997. Recognizing the importance of visual arts in the computer age, she earned a degree in computer science. She focused on web design, where, she explains, “I can utilize my love of graphic images and color theory.”

Brown continues to attend various workshops addressing all aspects of art, painting, and color theory because “I find attending workshops very inspiring and an essential part of my ongoing art education and continued growth as an artist.” This growth is evident in her creations: her talent with oil paint is evident in her landscape paintings, and she also works with watercolors and pastels. Whatever the medium, Brown’s artwork is breathtaking. She has exhibited her work in countless exhibitions and festivals over the years and continues to build a remarkable body of work in oils and pastels.
