Bartolome Luzanquis was born in 1963 in Cajamorca, Peru. He later moved to Piura which is in northern section of Peru. It was here that he studied under the acclaimed Augusto de los Rios. He studied here for 3 years. Luzanquis then went onto Lima, to study with another notable painter by the name of Jorge Arribasplata, a renowned painter of still life imagery. Lewan completed his art education with two years studying under Ladislao Plasencki. Luanquis's elegant mastery of light, darkness and shadows, reflections, and refracted light on glass and silver is implicative of the still-life imagery of the Renaissance; yet the painter’s use of area, intensity, and symmetry give birth to an intricately modern overview of classic subject matter.
