Augusto Muro was born in Callao, Peru. He began his artistic studies at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Lima and went on to study at the Museo de Arte de Lima. Muro also studied at the atelier of well known Peruvian artist Roberto Robles.

Muro became well known in the South of Peru after winning several awards in local painting contest. Through out his career he has studied art extensively and has also taught art to children.
