Arunas Mecius was born in 1965 in the city of Klaipeda in Lithuania. It was in Klaipeda where he attended the 19th secondary school. From 1983 to 1985 he enlisted in the Soviet army for a compulsary term. After finishing his term in the armed forces, Mecius enrolled in a fine crafts school where he earned a degree in decorating. He then went on to broaden his skills while working for ELFA, an electromechanical plant. Wanting to expand on his education, he entered the Siauliai Pedagogical Institute located in Lithuania in 1990. Mecius then went to study at teh Vilnius Academy of Arts where he graduated in 1997 with a Master's degree in Fine Arts. Mecius has taken part in numerous gallery exhibitions and currently teaches painting and graphic arts at the Klaipeda Children School of Arts and has been a member of the Lithuanian Artist's Association since 2002.
