Jeff Lange was born in 1970 in Leesberg, Virginia, the youngest of three bothers in an artistically-inclined family. Lange and his brothers all studied art at Winthrop University. After the completion of his studies, Lange worked as his brother T.L.’s artist assistant. Soon, Lange moved to the secluded mountains of North Carolina. The departure from the hustle and bustle of city life allowed Lange to truly focus on his craft. This period of reflection served Lange well; he was soon a participant in many shows, including two sell-out exhibitions.

When speaking of his style, Lange says: "I like to use an incompatible style and media for discovery and invention. Chaos is the constant with this technique and I find accidents are more interesting and innovative than a strictly controlled approach.”
