Raised in Quebec, Canada, Catherine Lachance has been drawing “since forever.” While in her youth she was a self-taught illustrator and painter, Lachance decided to refine her skills and expand her artistic knowledge, so she studied graphic design and illustration at Cegep de Sainte-Foy and at Laval University. The combination of her natural skills and of her formal education resulted in a technique she describes as “that of an artist, but also of a designer.” Her versatility in this respect is compounded by the years Lachance spent experimenting with and exploring different media, including colored pencils, acrylic paints, and collage.

Currently, Lachance’s focuses on combining numerous materials, paints, inks, and fabrics to create expressive and powerful artwork. While her preferred medium is acrylic, she explains, “I like to add variety in my subjects and I don't limit my creations to just one style. I can decide my images to be realistic, abstract, decorative, psychedelic or atmospheric!” Sometimes described as “halfway between abstract and figurative,” Lachance’s creations always inspire and impress their viewers.
