Andrew Thompson

Andrew Thompson's introduction to the art of glass blowing was a result of happenstance while living and working in Seattle, Washington. Each day on his commute to work, Thompson stood in front of glass blowing studio called 5th Avenue Glass during a ten minute wait to transfer buses. Interested by the glass blowing process and the finished product, he eventually walked in and asked for a job. After a year of doing the grunt work around the studio, he began his apprenticeship under Michael Boyd, a well known glass blower in the Pacific Northwest. The style of Thompson's work is inspired by the Italian cane techniques and Italian vessels (vases). Thompson's passion and goal for his work is to perfect his Italian cane color technique. Andrew Thompson's works are featured in galleries all over the world. Currently he runs Foci glass, the largest glass blowing studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he teaches intermediate and advanced glass blowing classes.
