Alexander Starodubov was born in 1959 in Moscow to a military diplomat family so his military career has been predetermined since his childhood. He graduated from Moscow Aviation University in 1977, then served as an officer in the Armed Forces.

When it seemed that there would be only success in his future career, Alexander changed his destiny abruptly. He retired from the Army in 1990 and chose the formidable path of Moscow Monmartre artist - in Old Arbat, from which later many well-known talented artists came.

The artist's favorite genre is an urban landscape, the disappearing views of old Moscow, sometimes with the fantasy elements and Bulgakov motives.
