Woody Jackson

If you’re a fan of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, then you are a fan of Woody Jackson, whose painting of cows and pastures have appeared on the ice cream giant’s cartons and marketing displays. Jackson got his artistic start at Yale Art School, and soon moved back to Middlebury, Vermont, where his work is constantly inspired by the Vermont dairylands. Though he is famous for his Holstein cow paintings, Jackson is also a superb landscape artist. When speaking of his work, Jackson says, “All my artwork has always been inspired by the land, from apple orchards, vegetables gardens, New Mexico deserts, dairy farms, and even the New York City waterfront. The land in turn is changed and inspired by time and the seasons. The light is different through the day and month to month.”
