British artist Sue Guthrie grew up in the tiny village of Buckinghamshire, surrounded by the beautiful English countryside. She studied at Leicester and then moved to Colchester, where she exhibited her art and did freelance work. She was soon back at school, earning her masters in fine art in Birmingham. Guthrie works in a variety of media, from paint to film. Color and movement are strong themes in her work and the randomness of nature inspires many of her compositions. Now that she lives in the city, she is also moved by the strong lines of the city architecture, and these built topographies influence much of her artwork. Guthrie has exhibited widely around the United Kingdom, showing at Edinburgh Castle, Walsall Museum and Art Gallery, and Whitely’s in London.
