Sara Eyestone

The creator of American Batik, Sara Eyestone, was born in December of 1943. It was in the mid sixties that Ms. Eyestone began experimenting with a method of painting that included work with dyes, melted wax and fine line drawing. Through her years of work, lectures and seminars, one woman exhibitions from coast to coast, Eyestone established American Batik as an acceptable media used by hundreds of artists throughout the country. Patterned interiors, colorful English gardens, old fashioned bouquets and sensitive studies of families at play are subjects that capture the attention of Eyestone’s studio hours. The founder of the National Association of Professional Artists and Craftspeople, Sara is also a member of the American Crafts Council, former President of the Vivid Imagination Corporation; has been included in a Rockefeller Center tribute to American Women who have distinguished themselves in their field, and is the subject of an upcoming documentary featuring her colorful life and work as it is in progress.
