Samuel Muray

Born in 1955, Samuel Muray has created a body of Art that can be described as serene, almost abstract landscapes known for their soft, gentle treatment of light and their subtle gradations of color. Through a combination of Realism, Romanticism, and Impressionism and his skilled hand at blending these styles, Muray is able to reveal the tranquil and reflective aspects of natural landscapes.

After post-graduate school, Muray taught art for nine years before being able to devote all his time to his artwork. He has participated in many international shows receiving a great deal of praise. His work can be found in collections worldwide, and is finally being acknowledged in the US.

Muray finds his inspiration during the many trips he takes driving from California to Aspen, Colorado, with a multitude of stops along the way. His art reflects the awe inspiring natural beauty he encounters as well as details from his own imagination. “We all want to create something more than what we see. My landscapes are not realistic, they’re idealized, they are places where you find refuge” (Muray).
