Salviati Glass Co.

In 1859, Antonio Salviati, a lawyer in love with the mythical lagoon city, decided to revitalize the Venetian glass industry which was eclipsed by both English and Bohemian glass. Employing the finest Murana glass makers and technition, Saliviate developed a new method of making mosiac with glass, that rapidly found favor in European courts and capitals before conquering America and Asia. He also created in his workshop a collection of glases, bowls, chandeliers and vases, focusing specially on pieces engraved and decorated with gold. The collection triumphed almost immediately at many international exhibitions and soon subsidaries were opened in New York, London, Paris, and St. Petersburg. In the Twentieth Century, Salviati became property of the Camerino family who decided to shift from the mosiacs to focus on the production of decorative objects and lighting.
