R.C. Gorman was born near Canyon de Chelly in Arizona to an artistic family. Growing up surrounded by nature and seeped in the Navajo tradition, Gorman was constantly inspired by his environment. After completing his studies, Gorman settled in Taos Vallery, where he was constantly able to use his environment as inspiration. Gorman quickly gained renown for his colorful works, including earning the Key to the City of Houston, Texas and first place at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Gorman’s works have been displayed in many one-man exhibitions across the country as well as museums in New Mexico, California, and Arizona.
