The Impressionist landscapes of Henry Peeters reveal an artist with a strong sensibility toward color, classical composition and a fresh insight into contemporary painting. Born in China in 1953, the artist was formally trained in traditional painting techniques and styles. The artist's country scenes in particular exhibit strong interplay between volume and light. The oil is used to the fullest; both its color and texture are incorporated into the forms of leaves, wood, stone and brick by Peeters' exceptional control of his medium.
