Vladimir "Vova" Mingar was born in 1965 in a small Siberian town of Bodoebo. From an early age Vova was fascinated with art and loved drawing and creating clay sculptures, he took part in an art school special program for gifted and talented students.

In 1980 Vova moved to Leningrad (later St. Petersburg), the capital of art and culture in Russia where he studied at the Leningrad Institute of Visual Arts. After working as a painter and a graphic artist in Russia, Vova immigrated to Israel in 1991. After living in a Kibbutz Dan in the North of Israel, Vova moved to Tel Aviv, the buzzing contemporary Israeli metropolis to promote his career and artistic ambitions.

One can describe Vova’s style as expressionist abstractivism influenced by the CoBrA artistic movement, a style of art combining figurative primitivism and naivety with a shameless pinch of humour, and includes artists such as Cornielle, Karl Appel and an influential Lithuanian artist Leo Ray. The paints Vova uses are warm and robust, figures are bounded by black outlines, which creates a strong contrast.
