Traudi Flaxman was born in Regesburg, Germany in 1944. She was raised on a Wisconsin dairy farm and educated at the University of Wisconsin and the School of Visual Arts. She continued her study of art for one year in Hedelberg, Germany. Flaxman also writes and illustrates her own series of children's books. Her works express a unique combination of sensitive drawing and markedly subtle color. Clearly, her love of children and for the American culture can be seen in her work. All of her pieces treat the viewer to a soft sweet and sentimental vision.
