Stephen Doig knew from an early age that he would be an artist. Growing up in Oxford, Doig produced many pencil sketches, which helped lay the foundation for the work he produces today. Doig soon became an exemplary draughtsman and produced remarkable life drawings and sports portraits. When Doig decided to add color with pastels, however, his work was able to portray a new depth and dimension.

Doig won the Fine Art Trade Guild’s “Best Artist of the Year” Award in 1997 and is now considered by many to be one of the best contemporary sporting artists.
