Kristy Goggio

Based in Wisconsin, Kristy Goggio studied drawing at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, graduating with a four-year degree in 1988. Not long after, she founded and operated Arc East Art & Frames, a gallery and custom framing business. Throughout the years, Goggio has been passionate about art, as is obvious in her own talented creations. Currently preferring to paint in oil on canvas, her imaginative and ethereal paintings draw the viewer into the scene. Particularly prevalent in her work are birds; whether they are figurative or non-representational, they are always full of color and whimsy, “The tone has to do with the irony of life, fun, gesturing, and wordplay,” explains Goggio. “The titles of my works are integral to the painted scene … [they] are often phrases that most of us are familiar with. I appreciate attaching imagery to words that have already passed through a viewer’s mind, so that there is an earlier existing germination of something familiar that I have suddenly attached an unlikely, even novel image to.”

This combination of the novel and the familiar is a great deal of what makes Goggio’s artwork so appealing. As a result, she has earned numerous awards and accolades, including the New York ArtExpo Emerging Artist competition, first, second, and third places at a number of art competitions, and Best of Show awards. Goggio’s work can be found in both private and corporate collections all across the United States.
