Born in Mexico, Juan Medina is fervently interested in maintaining his country's heritage and traditions in his artwork. The majestic fountains, colorful church domes, solitary courtyards and the countryside of Mexico all serve as inspiration for Medina. He captures his subjects through a mastery of color and shadows and lanterns, tiles, trees and a feast of bougainvillea are set ablaze with light. "My intention," explains the artist, "is to put down reality as I see it and the way most people would like to see their reality."
