A born artist, Johnny Taylor has been drawing as long as he has been able to hold a pencil. Taylor went to the University of Memphis to study art and over the course of his degree shifted from his original interest in studio art to his eventual major in Art History. Taylor’s style is heavily influenced by graffiti art, especially ‘single-gesture’ tagging. Full of life and color, Taylor’s work can be found in elite art collections.

Taylor’s art is a mixture of the new and the old at once, as he describes his process, “My practice of applying layer upon layer, and the subsequent masking and tearing away of those layers to reveal many previous layers … -- scraps of history visible all at once.”
