Guy Harvey

Born in 1955 in Lippsringe, Germany while his father was stationed there as a Gunnery Officer for the British Army, Guy Harvey and his family soon returned to their native Jamaica. Harvey comes from a long line of English Jamaicans who first settled there in the 1600's. Harvey grew up diving and fishing with his father, and from a young age became obsessed with Ernest Hemingway's famous book, "The Old Man and the Sea". He studied to become a marine biologist, but was intrigued by creating art - his love for Hemingway's book inspired Harvey to sketch a number of different scenes, and years later, in 1985, these 44 pen and ink sketches became part of his first exhibition and sealed his reputation as a master marine wildlife artist.

A devoted family man, Harvey eventually relocated his home and studio to nearby Grand Cayman, where he resides with wife Gillian and their two children. Indeed, Harvey's iconic signature always includes two dots along the stem of the last "Y" - they are for his kids Jessica and Alex.

An artist, scientist, diver, angler, conservationist and explorer, Harvey is a real Renaissance Marine Man. His original artworks are collected internationally, and his many very popular images adorn t-shirts, clothing and gift items. Most recently, he completed floor-to-ceiling murals at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport and at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. His work can also be seen on the TV and video series, "Guy Harvey’s Portraits From The Deep."
