Growing up in Yerevan, Armenia, Garo Georgyan knew that his calling was fine arts. After earning a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Yerevan Art Institute, Georgyan participated in many collective exhibitions across the former Soviet Union. While he painted, Georgyan also lent his creative talents to the film and theater industry, where he quickly gained recognition for his scenery and sets. The Fairy Tale Theater also commissioned Georgyan to design costumes, makes, stage decorations, and puppets. In 1989, Georgyan relocated to Los Angeles, California – a move that has greatly impacted his works.
