Florin

Florin is a Spanish still life artist, who trained in Madrid and later in Naples, before focusing exclusively on still-life painting. Florin is primarily inspired by Melendez (1715-1780), a Spanish painter who is considered to be the greatest still life painter of eighteenth-century.

Like Melendez, Florin is best known for his works that typically depict fruit, bread, and a few simple kitchen utensils set against a neutral background. With an emphasis on formal geometry, light, and texture, Florin's work is imbued with an earthiness and sense of vivid presence characteristic of the Spanish still-life tradition.

Florin's paintings are open and buoyant in expression, suggesting the abundance of nature and perhaps the simple pleasure of a meal enjoyed in the Spanish countryside.

His paintings are in collections in Europe and the United States.
