Born in 1960 on the French side of the island of Corsica, Debbie Berliner has been studying impressionism since her boarding school days in Giverny. Even without the benefit of formal training, Debbie was able to hone her skills; painting, and then repainting the same scenes, often with delightfully different results. By selling her pieces on the streets of Montmartre, Debbie was able to earn enough money to survive until being “discovered” in 1988, and given a “breakout show” at a gallery off the Champs Elysee. About her process, Berliner has stated: “I have tried to use the beautiful landscapes of America but the lushness of the gardens and brilliance of the colors I remember from my country can never be replaced as the inspiration for my art”
