Timothy Dalton

Classically trained actor Timothy Dalton was born in North Wales in 1944, where his father was stationed during WWII. The family would later move to Manchester, and Dalton would begin to take a liking to theater, a preference that was cemented when he saw “Macbeth” at age 16. This predilection was not entirely shocking as both of his grandfathers had been vaudevillians. After he was done with his schooling, Dalton toured with the National Youth Theater and then went on to study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (which he quit just shy of finishing).

Dalton has toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company and played the quintessential British spy, James Bond. Over the years he has consistently kept his hand in theater, film, and television, though he is particularly known for acting in costume dramas. Dalton turned down the Bond role a few times before he finally acquiesced, appearing in “The Living Daylights” and “Licence to Kill” as a more serious, brooding Bond, which some claimed was closer to the literary bond of Ian Fleming’s original stories. He has also appeared in the films “Wuthering Heights” and “The Rocketeer,” the plays “Romeo and Juliet” and “King Lear,” and the television miniseries “Scarlett” (a sequel to “Gone with the Wind”), among numerous other projects.
