Charles Jackson

Influenced by his childhood in post-WWII New York City, Charles Jackson has been integrating “swing jazz” themes into his pieces for as long as he’s held a paintbrush. Combining with legendary Village Vanguard owner Max Gordon early on in his artistic career, Jackson displayed his earliest likenesses of greats such as Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins on the walls of the famous club. When asked about his process, Charles has stated: “The riffs I hear when I listen to a great player, I transform into my own music. The only difference is that it’s not with a musical instrument; but with my brush and canvas.”
