Ben Walker

Ben Walker began his career as a professional artist with traditionally painted paintings. Born and raised in Southern California, Walker was primarily a self-taught artist who focused on Realist paintings of wild animals and classic cars, which he created with brushes and palette knives to develop a textured and beautiful look. These paintings were very popular and were even featured on HGTV, the design, decorating, and home improvement channel (Home & Garden Television). However, over recent years, Walker has taken his art in a different direction. He now creates what he calls “action paintings,” in which he uses interesting drips and shapes of paint to express emotions and imagine scenes. “I took a less-is-more approach,” he explains in regard to his recent “LOVE SEX DEATH” series, “and my goal was to get human traits, emotion, and to tell a story from very few drips of paint.”

While completely different from his early work, Walker’s action paintings have been well received. The passionate and visceral feelings they evoke are intriguing, and the shapes often leave themselves open to interpretation, making them very personal works of art for both the artist and the viewers. Both these paintings and Walker’s earlier style creations can be found in private and corporate collections in the United States and various European countries and he continues to exhibit his work in various galleries and cafes around the US.
