Born in 1932 in Virginia, Roosevelt “Rosie” Brown was reknowned for his prowess on the football field and his strength as an offensive tackle. After playing for Morgan State University, Brown was drafted by the New York Giants in 1953. He remained with the team for almost fifteen seasons before retiring in 1965. Over the course of his career, he was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times and in 1956 he was chosen as the NFL champion. After his retirement, he was named to the NFL 1950s All-Decade Team and the 75th Anniversary All-Time; he was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975. Brown passed away in June of 2004.
